One Way Out
Posted by Peculiar Baptist on February 19, 2009
Have you watched this crazy man? Jonathan Goodwin is an escape artist along with his friend (?) and camera man Mike Nelson and engineering genius Terry Stroud he thinks up ways to escape from the craziest things possible. I accidentally watch an episode and I admit I am hooked. Its like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
There was one episode where he’s trying to escape with the minimum of movement. So his hands are tied down to a table and a live scorpion is stuffed in his mouth and then his mouth is duct taped shut! So as your watching him try to extricate his hands with the smallest of movements so the scorpion won’t grow disturbed his friend Mike slaps him in the face! Now there is true friendship!
Remember he is a professional don’t try this at home.

FIREPROOF
Posted by Peculiar Baptist on February 8, 2009
The other day I rented this DVD from our local video store. Now before I go any further let me tell you that I am not one to rent Christian videos that much. I’ve been burned before by poor production qualities, bad acting, and a storyline that left much to be desired. Not to mention that many times the gospel presented in the video isn’t the gospel.
Also I have to admit that I haven’t been impressed with Kirk Cameron’s acting abilities.
Despite this I decided to pick it up and watch it. And I was surprised. This is a video worth renting or buying depending on how much you liked it. And I have to repent of my views regarding Kirk Cameron’s acting. Also the gospel presented in the movie was biblical.
But it isn’t perfect David, over at Doxoblogy, points out that in this there was no presence of the local church at all. Dan Phillips also has some good comments regarding what if the man didn’t really repent or if the woman was impossible to woo?
Still if you get a chance to see the movie do so. Also in the special features the bloopers and the Fireproof in sixty seconds will have you howling.
